What does Audio Recorder – Voice Recorder do?
It records sound in Chrome from your microphone, from the current tab, or from both at once. You can pause, trim, rename, and export each take as WebM, OGG, WAV, or MP3.
Can I record my voice and the tab together?
Yes. Choose Both before you press Record. The microphone and the tab are mixed into a single file, and you still hear the tab.
Where are my recordings stored?
In this browser, on this computer. Nothing is uploaded. A file leaves the device only when you download it or share it. The library can grow until the disk is full.
Is there a time limit?
There is no fixed cap. You can set an optional auto-stop from 1 minute to 3 hours. The default is off.
Why can't some tabs be recorded?
Chrome blocks capture on its own pages, such as Settings and the Chrome Web Store. Open a regular website and try again.
Do I need to keep the popup open?
No. Recording continues after you close the popup. Use the toolbar icon or the shortcuts: Alt+Shift+R to start or stop, Alt+Shift+P to pause or resume.
Which format should I save?
WebM is the default and stays compact. Choose MP3 when you need a file that opens almost everywhere, WAV when you will edit the audio, and OGG when you want a compact Opus file. MP3 and Opus follow the quality setting: 64, 128, or 192 kbps. Takes are recorded at 48 kHz.
What happens if Chrome closes mid-recording?
The unfinished take is kept and marked recovered, so you can still play, trim, or export it.
